- Journalistic Association: The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) and several Palestinian media outlets, including Gaza-based Al-Elamya News Agency, identified him as a photographer.
- Militant Affiliation: Ahmed Abu Skheil (أحمد أبو سخيل) was a fighter in the Al Quds Brigades (the armed wing of PIJ).
Note: Ahmed was killed along with his father, Muhammad Ismail Abu Skheil (محَمد اسماعيل أبو سخيل), a member of the Supreme Military Council and Commander of the Central Operations Staff of the Al-Quds Brigades in the Gaza Strip, and his sister, Zahraa, who also worked for Al-Elamya News Agency.
