Ika Ferrer Gotić, a prominent journalist and TV figure based in Sarajevo, she serves as a senior news producer and anchor for N1, a 24-hour news channel affiliated exclusively with CNN, reaching over 20 million viewers throughout the Balkans. Additionally, she holds the position of chief editor for the digital edition of Forbes in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Professional journalists are expected to be objective and unprejudiced to maintain credibility, trust, and fairness in their reporting. This appears not to be the case when it comes to Ika Ferrer Gotić.
On March 25, 2024, she shared a screenshot of a post that stated Hamas did not rape Jewish women, while asserting that Israeli soldiers in Al-Shifa hospital “raped a pregnant Palestinian woman… Then they killed the woman & her unborn child.” Claiming that Jews were not harmed by Hamas while spreading such false claims is a clear act of antisemitism.
Ika Ferrer Gotić has been disseminating false news and misinformation, fueling animosity towards Israel. The story of Yazan Kafarnah is heart-rending; however, it seems he was affected by an uncommon genetic condition. Regrettably, his situation was exploited for anti-Israel propaganda, bypassing options for medical evacuation or treatment at a field hospital. Contrary to the narrative, his immediate family members are shown to be in robust health, with no evidence of malnutrition or starvation in other images and videos.
According to data from Israel’s Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories, there are no restrictions on the quantity of food and humanitarian aid allowed into the Gaza Strip.
The content of this post suggests that Ika Ferrer Gotić has departed from journalistic neutrality to adopt a stance that could be described as pro-Palestinian activism. The genocide allegation directed at Israel is part of a narrative attempting to cast Israel in a uniquely negative light on the international stage. The conflict between Israel and the Hamas organization in Gaza does not equate to the annihilation of a people.
The following posts illustrate that Ika Ferrer Gotić frequently disseminates misleading information, fueling antisemitic sentiment:
- Shimon HaTzadik (Sheikh Jarrah) is not a settlement but has been a Jewish neighbourhood since 1875 when the land was legally purchased from its Arab owners.
- Courts ruled the house featured in this video clip belonged to Jews.
- Yaakov Fauci, who had no personal involvement with any court cases or the legal eviction, was subjected to horrific antisemitic abuse.
- The construction work was on a park bordering the Bab al-Asbat Cemetery (aka al-Yusuffiya Cemetery) and not in the cemetery itself: “No work is being done in the cemetery… “The work is being carried out on open public land designated for a public park and in the area of a national park located north of the cemetery.”
- The woman, Alla Nababteh, was dragged away for her own safety.
It is imperative that CNN and Forbes take immediate action to terminate Ika Ferrer Gotić’s employment and unequivocally denounce her egregious views and support for Hamas, it is vital that she is barred from holding any journalistic positions in the future.
