Huwaida Arraf launched a congressional bid after tweets supporting the desecration of the Warsaw Ghetto and other antisemitic remarks

Civil rights attorney Huwaida Arraf (Twitter @huwaidaarraf) made headlines recently after she announced her candidacy for Congress. She is regarded as a prominent supporter of violent resistance against Israel. She is a co-founder of the International Solidarity Movement (ISM), a terror-supporting group with links to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). Additionally, she co-founded the Free Gaza Movement, the organization behind the Gaza Freedom Flotillas that sought to confront the Israeli navy.

Despite her apparent history of support for terrorism, Twitter verified her account with a blue tick indicating she is trustworthy.

Our team investigated her Twitter account after she appeared in a variety of media outlets and found antisemitic tweets.

Holocaust inversion, Inappropriate analogies and antisemitism

Arraf claims that Israel turned Gaza into a concentration camp, referring to it as the “Gaza ghetto”.  Even more disturbing is the fact that she compares Jews to Nazis and defended the desecration of the last wall of the Warsaw ghetto, with the words “Free Palestine”. There were 400,000 Jews imprisoned in the Warsaw Ghetto by the Nazis, most of whom died. Today, the last remaining wall is a memorial to their lives.

In Arraf’s Twitter timeline, she refers to Jewish supremacy and denies Israel’s right to exist, both of which the IHRA defines as antisemitic.

Denying/Excusing Antisemitism

Arraf is an antisemite who doesn’t belong in congress, and Twitter shouldn’t use its platform to promote someone who appears to support terrorist organizations.
