The Police must investigate Glasgow University’s rector for supporting banned terrorist groups

Dr. Ghassan Abu Sitta is a British-Palestinian consultant plastic and reconstructive surgeon and the current rector of the University of Glasgow.

GnasherJew previously unmasked Ghassan Abu Sitta’s apparent endorsement of violent armed resistance against Israel and glorification of terrorists. These posts have been recently deleted, and Abu-Sittah has insisted he “vehemently opposes terrorism.” Furthermore, his lawyers said about a post in which he glorified two Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command (PFLP-GC) terrorists who committed the “Night of the Gliders” attack: “Our client does not recognise this post or recall having posted it.” We have digitally archived copies to jog his memory.

The PFLP-GC is proscribed in the UK since June 2014. The group is also designated as a terror organisation by the EU and the US.

In the light of this denial, we decided to conduct a thorough review of Abu-Sittah’s public social media output. We uncovered posts showing support for banned terror organisations, and messages glorifying terrorists with blood on their hands.

ISLAMIC RESISTANCE MOVEMENT HAMAS

The screenshot below shows that Ghassan Abu Sitta shared a post from December 14, 2022* saying “We congratulate the brothers in Hamas and the comrades in the Popular Front on the anniversary of the launch. May you always be truthful, loyal and committed, may you always be proud and may your enemy be humiliated.” This post was made in reference to Hamas’ 35th anniversary of founding and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine’s 55th anniversary of founding.

Abu Sitta also reposted an image of Maryam Mohammad Yousif Farhat, commonly known as Umm Nidal the “Mother of Martyrs.” Three of her sons were members of Hamas and killed after participating in terror attacks against Israel. Farhat was a close associate of the Hamas leadership, a member of the Palestinian Legislative Council for Hamas, and an icon of the second Intifada.

Khairi Alqam, a Palestinian terrorist affiliated with Hamas, carried out a suicide attack against Jews on Holocaust Remembrance Day on January 27, 2023. Ghassan Abu Sitta shared a post celebrating him.

The last image is a screenshot copy of a post celebrating a terrorist attack in Givat Ha’avot area of Kiryat Arba on 29 October 2022. The perpetrator, Muhammad al-Jabari, was affiliated to al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas. Dr. Abu Sitta shared this post as well.

Hamas is proscribed in its entirety in the UK.

HOUTHI MOVEMENT - ANSAR ALLAH

Ghassan Abu Sitta reposted a post “in support of our Mujahideen brothers Ansar Allah from Gaza, steadfastness and defiance.

In the US, Ansar Allah is designated as a terrorist organisation.

Their slogan reads:

God is the Greatest
Death to America
Death to Israel
A Curse Upon the Jews
Victory to Islam

Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP)

Ghassan Abu Sitta shared a post commemorating the co-founder of the terror group Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) Maher Al-Yamani on the third anniversary of his passing.

Abu Sitta also reposted a message paying tribute to “Martyr” Ibrahim Mahmood al-Rai, a military commander in the PFLP, who planned to bomb an Israeli bus and was involved in terrorist attacks against Israelis.

He also eulogised Omar Yousef Manna’ Fararja, a member of the Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades (the armed wing of the terrorist organisation PFLP), who was killed on 05 December, 2022 during an armed clash with the Israel Defense Forces.

Abu Sitta reposted an image quoting “Martyr” Bassel al-Araj “Our job is not just to take revenge. Our job is to get revenge.” The text in the post says “from the river to the sea, we will sacrifice for you, O homeland.

Abu Sitta shared a post glorifying Iranian “martyrs” who joined the PFLP, Muzaffar, who carried out a suicide bombing in a cinema using an explosive belt, and Shams al-Din al-Kazemi, who was killed during fighting in Dbayeh Camp in May 1973.

ISLAMIC REVOLUTIONARY GUARD CORPS - QUDS FORCE

On International Quds Day 2022 (Jerusalem Day), Ghassan Abu Sitta shared a post praising “Martyr” Hajj Qassem Soleimani, the commander of Iran’s Quds Force.

In the US, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (and Quds Force) is designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organisation.

AL_AQSA MARTYRS" BRIGADES

Abu Sitta reposted an image commemorating Palestinian militant and a leader of the al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades Nasser Abu Hamid the day after he died. He was  serving seven life sentences plus 50 years for multiple murder convictions. He died in prison from cancer on December 20, 2022.

On the twentieth anniversary of the Wadi al-Haramiya terror attack, Ghassan Abu Sitta reposted “Salute to the hero Tha’ir Hammad, the sniper who killed and wounded 13 soldiers.” Tha’ir Kayid Hammad, a member of the al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, killed seven Israeli soldiers and three civilians in the attack. He was given life sentence.

Please petition UK Police to fully investigate Dr. Ghassan Abu Sitta for alleged terror offences, and also demand from the University of Glasgow to remove Dr. Abu Sitta from the Rector position. Additionally, we would encourage you to complain to the General Medical Council (GMC reference no: 4066600) about his conduct.
