BACKGROUND INFORMATION AND OFFENSIVE SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS
Saiqa Ali is one of three Green Party candidates standing for election in Streatham St Leonards, the Green Party’s strongest ward in the London Borough of Lambeth. The Green Party currently holds all three council seats there.
As well as standing as a prospective councillor, Ali is the founder and CEO of the Southern Women Aid Network (SWAN), a registered charity. She is also an owner-director at Nexus Inspyre Ltd, a management consulting firm. She was recently appointed Director of Operations at LEGS (Local Exercise Groups for Stroke). She has also been awarded the BEM (British Empire Medal) and the FRSA (Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts) for her work with SWAN and for her contributions to social change and progress.
Andrew Gilligan of The Spectator exposed Ali as an antisemite and a supporter of terrorism. Posts from Ali’s social media accounts showed support for Hamas, describing the terror group as a “resistance” and a “freedom movement.” Ali also shared antisemitic conspiracy theories. These included claims about Jewish control of governments, a story about Jewish world domination, and the false claim that 9/11 was carried out by Israel as a “false flag” attack.
Since Gilligan’s exposé, Ali has deactivated or locked her accounts on LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook.
However, our OSINT (open-source intelligence) investigation uncovered more red flags. We found other social media posts suggesting that Ali holds deep hatred towards Jews and Israel. In these posts, she refers to Israel as “Isra-hell,” defends Hamas and Hezbollah, and denies the atrocities committed by Hamas on 7 October.
On the Green Party website, Ali says she believes in “compassion in action” and “fairness in every decision.” However, it does not seem that this compassion and fairness extend to the Jewish community. She dismisses and even mocks the fears and concerns of British Jews. She also shares antisemitic conspiracies and lies, and she blames “Jewish supremacy” for changes to gun and protest laws in Australia after the Islamic State–inspired attack on Bondi Beach. She called those changes a denial of free speech and said that Israel was “manipulating trauma to steal land.”
We will report her to the Charity Commission, to her employer, and to Counter Terrorism Policing, and we urge you to do the same.
