Death and Reported Roles
- Death: Alaa El Din Fawzi Jumaa Barhoum (علاءالدين فوزي جمعه برهوم) was killed on November 27, 2024, in an Israeli airstrike that targeted a Hamas terror command post at the Al-Taba’een School (مدرسة التابعين) in Gaza City.
- Journalistic Association: The Government Media Office in the Gaza Strip (المكتب الإعلامي الحكومي), MADA, the Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms, which holds a special consultative status at the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the Palestinian Journalists Protection Center (PJPC) described Alaa Barhoum as a journalist and editor who worked with several media organisations.
- Militant Affiliation: Aqmar Tofan (أقمار الطوفان), a Telegram channel that commemorates Al-Qassam militants killed during the “Al-Aqsa Flood” (Tufan al-Aqsa), published an obituary identifying Alaa Barhoum as a Qassam fighter in the Al-Tuffah and Al-Daraj Battalion of the Gaza Brigade.
Update (June 23, 2026): The Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades’ Military Media Department now lists Alaa El Din Fawzi Jumaa Barhoum on its “martyrs” page.
Note: Alaa was killed alongside his brother, Baha El Din Fawzi Jumaa Barhoum (بهاء الدين فوزي جمعة برهوم), a field commander in the same battalion as Alaa. They are the sons of Hamas senior figure Fawzi Barhoum (فوزي برهوم).
