Death and Reported Roles

  • Death: Ahmed Mahmoud Mohammad Al-Qarra (أحمد محمود محمد القرا) was killed on November 10, 2023, reportedly in a targeted airstrike at the entrance of Khuza’a town, east of Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip.
  • Journalistic Association: The Committee to Protect Journalists identified Ahmed Al-Qarra as a photojournalist who worked for Al-Aqsa University—a classification echoed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). In reality, Al-Qarra was the public relations administrator at the university, and he also taught social media and digital photography courses there.
  • Militant Affiliation: After his death, Ahmed Al-Qarra has been recognized in tributes as a ‘leader‘ and ‘fighter‘ of the Khan Yunis Qassam Brigades’ Eastern Battalion, which is responsible for the Khuza’a and Abasan areas. Additionally, a death notice published by a Hamas-affiliated Telegram channel, Qassam Martyrs, presented him as an al-Qassam martyr.

Note: Ahmed Al-Qarra’s brother, Abdullah Al-Qarra (عبدالله القرا), was a militant operative of the al-Qassam Brigades. He was eliminated in April 2011.
