Headteacher Essam Nazzal celebrated October 7 massacres and shared antisemitic posts

British-Palestinian Essam Nazzal عصام نزال is headteacher and director of South Wales Community Academy; a recently registered charity. He also works as cover supervisor at the Languages Department of Cardiff West Community High School. Furthermore, Nazzal is elected secretary of Fatah Movement in the UK (FMUK) and the founder and the president of the Palestinian Community in Wales (PCW). Our research indicates that he has been operating PCW’s Facebook page since its inception in March 2018. Both FMUK and PCW are connected to the Palestinian Mission to the UK aka the “Palestinian Embassy”.

On October 8, 2024,  following Hamas’ October 7 terror attacks, PCW shared a music video featuring Mohammed Assaf’s “Dammi Falastini”; a soundtrack celebrating Palestinian resistance and rebellion against “colonisation”.

Further review of Essam Nazzal and PCW’s activity on Facebook revealed that he has been sharing messages that appear to justify Hamas’ October 7 attacks using fake quotes and disinformation. We also discovered antisemitic posts on both his personal account and PCW’s timeline, including

  • Holocaust inversion and Nazi comparisons, and
  • denial of Israel’s right to exist.

Max Blumenthal has a history of playing down Hamas’atrocious crimes against Israeli civilians; he promoted the conspiracy that Israel killed its own citizens on October 7. In the video, Blumenthal is using purposely fabricated quotes to justify the attack and erase Hamas’ culpability.

  • Ben-Gurion did not say “We must expel Arabs and take their places”
  • Arnon Soffer did not suggest that Israel must kill Palestinians.
