Background information
Ian Blackburn is currently the Mayor of Withernsea, a seaside resort town and civil parish located in Holderness, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. Additionally, he was a candidate for the UK Labour Party in the South East Holderness ward local by-election in July 2024.
Regrettably, he is also an antisemite. On Facebook, he shares reprehensible views that violate the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) working definition of antisemitism. These include posts that seem to justify violence against Jews and deny the Jewish people their right to self-determination. Additionally, he makes comparisons between Israel and Nazi Germany.
In this brief piece, we provide examples of his antisemitic views and call on the Labour Party to expel him from its ranks.
