Death and Reported Roles
- Death: Muhammad Bassam Ahmed Al-Jamal (محمد بسام أحمد الجمل) died on April 25, 2024, from injuries sustained in an Israeli airstrike that targeted his home in the Al-Janina neighborhood east of Rafah the previous night.
- Journalistic Association: The International Federation of Journalists and the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) identified Muhammad Bassam Al-Jamal as a correspondent and photographer for Palestine Now, a news agency affiliated with Hamas’ al-Qassam Brigades. This assertion was supported by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Additionally, Al-Jamal reportedly worked as a montage technician for Al-Aqsa TV, a channel linked to Hamas.
- Militant Affiliation: Following his death, Muhammad Bassam Al-Jamal was recognized as a field commander in the Military Media Unit of Al-Qassam’s Rafah Brigade.
