Ramadan Abu Jazar, director of the Brussels International Center and linked to the South African delegation at the International Court of Justice, celebrated the October 7 attacks, with his family members actively participating

Ramadan Abu Jazar, a prominent Palestinian figure and current Director of the Brussels International Center (BIC) and Head of the Palestinian Supreme Council (PSC), has been directly implicated in a series of disturbing activities that reveal his support for terrorism. Our investigation uncovered his celebration of Hamas-led terror attacks on social media, where he expressed joy over the massacre of Israelis on October 7, 2023. Moreover, Abu Jazar glorified his own family members who actively participated in these brutal attacks.

BIC and Abu Jazar are registered at the European Union (EU) Transparency Register and thus accredited for access to European Parliament (EP) premises, and have the right for advocacy work and to organise events there.

His history of involvement in terrorist activities dates back to the First Intifada, where he played a direct role in violent operations against Israel. He has also held a leadership position within the Fatah movement in Belgium and has been linked to a significant money laundering scandal through the Global Network for Rights and Development (GNRD), raising concerns about his financial dealings and connections to Palestinian Secret Services.

Particularly concerning is Abu Jazar’s connection to the South African delegation to the International Court of Justice (ICJ). While the full extent of his involvement is not yet clear, his presence and associations raise serious concerns about the motivations behind the charges being brought against Israel. The potential influence he may have on these proceedings calls into question the integrity and impartiality of the case.

In light of these findings, Abu Jazar has been reported to both EU and Israeli authorities. His actions, in connection with the South African delegation, highlight the need for an immediate and thorough investigation. His involvement poses a potential threat to security within European and international institutions, and it is essential that these issues are addressed with the utmost seriousness.

On January 11, 2024, the South African and Palestinian delegations held a media briefing following arguments at the International Court of Justice (ICJ). During this event, we identified a man pictured with the delegations, highlighted in yellow in the image, as Ramadan Abu Jazar.

Following this identification, we conducted a thorough review of Ramadan Abu Jazar’s social media accounts. Our investigation revealed that, while the Hamas-led terror attacks on October 7 were still ongoing, Abu Jazar shared messages celebrating the massacre of Israeli civilians. Additionally, we uncovered Facebook posts by Ramadan Abu Jazar and other members of the Abu Jazar Clan glorifying two of his direct family members who participated in the attacks on that day.

SUPPORTING TERRORISM

On October 7, 2023, Ramadan Abu Jazar posted celebratory messages on Facebook in support of “the resistance.”

(screenshots of the original messages in Arabic are provided, followed by translations of these posts into English).

Ramadan Abu Jazar, originally from Rafah, has been living in Brussels since the mid-1990s. Evidence suggests that he participated in terrorist activities against Israel during the First Intifada. He also held the position of secretary within the Fatah movement in Belgium.

Ramadan Abu Jazar was also implicated in the Global Network for Rights and Development (GNRD) money laundering scandal and is alleged to have connections with Mohammad Dahlan and Palestinian Secret Services. Our investigation revealed that, as the GNRD Brussels Director and later as a member of its Board of Directors, Abu Jazar played a key role in expanding the group’s activities across Europe and Africa. Notably, the Brussels International Center (BIC), where Abu Jazar currently serves as Director, is operating from the same address previously used by GNRD.

TERROR LINKS

Public Facebook posts by Ramadan Abu Jazar and other members of the Jazar clan further revealed that two of his direct family members, Hassan Muhammad Abu Jazar (حسن محمد ابو جزر) and Ali Mohammed Abu Jazar (علي محمد أبوجزر), were Hamas terrorists who actively participated in the October 7 terror attacks. As shown in the images below, Ramadan Abu Jazar shared tributes to these family members, glorifying their involvement in these genocidal acts.

We also discovered more members of his family who who belonged to terrorist organisations and have spent many years in Israeli jails. Ramadan Abu Jazar praised them in social media posts and is supportive of their terrorist activities.

Given these revelations, a thorough investigation is urgently needed to explore the connections between the Brussels International Center (BIC), its Director Ramadan Abu Jazar, and members of the South African delegation to the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

Ramadan Abu Jazar has already been reported to the Secretariat of the Transparency Register at the European Commission, and the information about his conduct has been shared with Israeli officials

UPDATE 22/09/2024: SENIOR SOUTH AFRICAN OFFICIAL MINIMIZES ALLEGED LINKS TO RAMADAN ABU JAZAR

Following our exposé, the South African government has responded to allegations concerning its interactions with Ramadan Abu Jazar. Clayson Monyela, Head of Public Diplomacy at the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO), stated on X that the meeting was merely a diplomatic courtesy and that DIRCO’s Director General Zane Dangor was not aware of the individual’s background. However, the images we have obtained suggest otherwise.
