Death and Reported Roles
- Death: Jamal Arif Salem Al-Faqawi (جمال عارف سالم الفقعاوي) was killed on October 25, 2023, reportedly as a result of an airstrike on his home in Khan Yunis, in southern Gaza.
- Journalistic Association: The Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate identified Jamal Arif Salem Al-Faqawi (جمال عارف سالم الفقعاوي) as a journalist for the Palestinian Islamic Jihad-affiliated Mithaq Media Foundation. This claim was echoed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
- Militant Affiliation: A Telegram channel called “Path of the Righteous” posted a notice about Jamal Al-Faqawi’s death. He was featured in military fatigues and praised as a martyred fighter. In a separate video tribute, he was described as a “beacon on the path to Jerusalem.” The Mithaq Media Foundation also mourned Jamal in a social media post, using the hashtags #Al-AqsaFlood, #GazaIsCrawlingToJerusalem, and #PalestineResists. Based on the channel’s content and Mithaq’s affiliation with PIJ, we believe that Jamal was a militant operative of this terrorist organization.
