Simon Patterson

Simon Patterson, from Harpenden, is an antisemitic internet troll. He refers to Jews as “rats” and openly supports Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis. He hopes they will help bring about the destruction of Israel.

His posts use common antisemitic tropes and include many false claims about Jews and Israel. For example, he calls Israel a “Nazi state” and denies 3,500 years of Jewish history in the Middle East.

Simon describes the 7 October attacks as “resistance”. He also tries to reduce the impact of Hamas’s actions by falsely claiming the attacks caused only about 100 deaths. He repeats a made-up claim that Israel allowed the attack to happen, and that Israeli forces killed almost all the victims. He uses this claim as an excuse to justify suffering for Palestinians.

After firebombers attacked Jewish charity-owned ambulances in north London, Simon said Jews carried out the attack. After two Jewish men were stabbed in Golders Green, his initial response was that it was carried out by Mossad. He suggested Mossad was using past persecution of Jews to gain sympathy.

Simon also shows a more threatening side. When talking about supporters of Israel, he says, “we’ve got to hunt these rats down,” calling them a “legitimate target.” This more threatening behaviour suggests he may be the same Simon Patterson of Finley Road, Harpenden, who has a criminal conviction for assault.
