UNICEF UK Manager Muhammad Karim Exposed Running Terrorist Merch Shop

Muhammad Karim

Marketing Manager at UNICEF UK and Owner and Director of Ashpinoke Limited | London, England, UK

Background information

Our OSINT investigation revealed that an online shop called Solid Mujahid sold apparel and merchandise that glorify banned terrorist leaders and promote symbols used to target Jewish individuals. Public records and digital footprints link the shop’s operation directly to Muhammad Karim, a Marketing Manager at the humanitarian charity UNICEF UK and Chair of the UNICEF Staff Association. Company directories confirm that Karim is also a registered business owner and director of Ashpinoke, an active private limited company that operates as an online vendor.

While managing digital campaigns for an international children’s charity, Karim simultaneously used his online storefront and social media accounts to distribute merchandise that encourages violence against Jews and promotes banned terrorist figures. Our investigation also found content involving Holocaust denial and antisemitism on Solid Mujahid’s social media platforms. Below is a summary of our findings.

Investigation Findings

Terrorist-Glorifying Apparel and incitement to violence: The shop’s product line included a design called “Heroes,” which features prominent Hamas leaders such as Yahya Sinwar and Ismail Haniyeh. Muhammad Karim’s online shop, solidmujahid.com, also sold merchandise that calls for physical assaults and uses Hamas targeting symbols to mark Jewish individuals. UK counter terrorism and public order laws strictly prohibit the distribution of this type of abusive material.

Hamas Propaganda Visuals: The inverted red triangle appears prominently in Solid Mujahid’s product designs. This symbol originated in Hamas military propaganda videos, where it is used as a tactical indicator to pinpoint targets before attacks. International watchdog groups and platform moderators classify the symbol as an endorsement of violence and a tool for intimidation.
Endorsement of October 7 and anniversary statements: Immediately after the Hamas-led attacks on 7 October 2023, Muhammad Karim posted on social media describing the events as “decolonisation in practice”. This aligns with a pattern of promoting proscribed terrorist figures figures.

A subsequent post from 7 October 2024 further indicates an intent to glorify terrorism. In an anniversary statement, Muhammad Karim endorsed “armed resistance” while displaying a flaming red inverted triangle, the specific tactical targeting symbol used in Hamas propaganda videos.
Explicit Promotion of Holocaust Denial: The investigation found that Solid Mujahid’s official X account shared content involving Holocaust denial. The account reposted propaganda that dismissed the reality of the Nazi genocide. This included promoting the “271k” Red Cross conspiracy theory, an antisemitic myth popularised by neo-Nazi groups.
Antisemitic Material: The official X account also shared material designed to promote hostility, fear, and hatred against Jewish people, actively amplifying several established antisemitic tropes:

  • Dehumanising Propaganda: Graphic illustrations and text that frame the Jewish demographic as an existential threat to Muslims and Christians.
  • Scapegoating Conspiracy Theory: A harmful claim asserting that Jewish people secretly instigate global wars while deliberately avoiding the conflicts themselves.
  • Classic Antisemitic Canard: A direct comment explicitly stating that “Money is the real god of these people,” a phrase that relies on harmful historic stereotypes regarding financial greed.

Current Status and A Demand for Immediate Accountability

Following the publication of our findings, the solidmujahid.com online shop was taken offline, and most of its affiliated social media assets were removed. However, the closure of the online shop does not resolve the potential legal and policy breaches documented during the investigation. Due to the distribution of extremist materials and potential conflicts with UK counter terrorism and public order legislation, further review is required from the relevant authorities:

  • UNICEF UK needs to conduct an independent review to determine how an individual promoting violent extremism, terrorism glorification, and targeted religious hatred could hold a leadership position as a Marketing Manager and Chair of the Staff Association. A child protection charity cannot maintain public trust while employing individuals linked to the promotion of violence and antisemitism.
  • The Metropolitan Police and relevant UK authorities need to review the operations of this storefront. The distribution of material that features banned terrorist groups, encourages physical harm, or incites racial and religious hatred falls under UK public order and counter-terrorism legislation. The removal of the digital assets should not prevent a standard assessment of these activities by law enforcement.
