Death and Reported Roles
- Death: Abdullah Salem Saeed Darwish (عبد الله سالم سعيد درويش) was killed on December 1, 2023, in a targeted airstrike at the Maghazi refugee camp in Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip.
- Journalistic Association: The International Federation of Journalists and the Committee to Protect Journalists identified Abdullah Darwish as a photojournalist who worked for Al Aqsa TV, which is affiliated with Hamas. This claim was echoed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
- Militant Affiliation: Abdullah Darwish was reportedly a militant operative in Hamas’ Nuseirat Battalion of the Qassam Brigades. He participated in the October 7 terror attacks on Kibbutz Be’eri in southern Israel, leading an elite group of fighters. Additionally, he was praised in a Facebook post as an Al-Qassam fighter and referred to as a “lion among the lions.”
