Alaa El-Din Atef Nimr Al-Nimr (علاء الدين عاطف نمر النمر)
Blogger, Podcaster, Voiceover artist, Master of ceremonies, and Media supervisor at the Engineers Syndicate | Gaza City, Gaza
Death and Reported Roles
- Death: Alaa El-Din Atef Nimr Al-Nimr (علاء الدين عاطف نمر النمر) was killed on November 20, 2023 (some sources report November 16, 2023), reportedly after an Israeli aircraft targeted a house where he had fled in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, north of Gaza City.
- Journalistic Association: The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate (PJS) inaccurately identified Alaa Al-Nimr as a freelance journalist. The claim was repeated by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), which published a letter from Mounir Anastas, the Ambassador and Permanent Delegate of the State of Palestine to UNESCO, listing Al-Nimr as a journalist casualty and accusing the ‘Israeli occupying army’ of ‘deliberately targeting journalists with no constraints or consequences.’ However, according to Al-Nimr’s bio, he was a blogger, podcaster, voiceover artist, master of ceremonies, and a media supervisor at the Engineers Syndicate (Gaza branch).
- Militant Affiliation: Aqmar Tofan (أقمار الطوفان) is a Telegram channel that commemorates Al-Qassam militants killed during the “Al-Aqsa Flood” (Tufan al-Aqsa). It published an obituary recognizing Alaa Al-Nimr as a Qassam fighter in the Al-Radwan Battalion (Gaza Brigade).
Update (June 23, 2026): The Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades’ Military Media Department now lists Alaa El-Din Atef Nimr Al-Nimr on its “martyrs” page.
