Death: Mohammad Moin Mahmoud Ayyash (محمد معين محمود عياش) was killed on November 22, 2023, allegedly due to an airstrike that targeted his home in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.
Journalistic Association: The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) identified Mohammad Moin Mahmoud Ayyash as a journalist and freelance photographer—a classification echoed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)—while the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) referred to him as a photojournalist. UNESCO published a letter from Mounir Anastas, the Ambassador and Permanent Delegate of the State of Palestine to UNESCO, in which he listed Mohammad Ayyash as a photographer casualty and accused the “Israeli occupying army” of “deliberately targeting journalists with no constraints or consequences.” According to open-source information, he worked as a photojournalist for the pro-Hamas news agency and digital media network “Gaza Now,” which was founded by his brother, Mustafa Ayyash. Additionally, Mohammad Moin Ayyash was the director and founder of the Gaza Live channel on Telegram.
Militant Affiliation: A post on Telegram by “qassamiah7alat,” a channel focused on media associated with the Al-Qassam Brigades and Palestinian resistance, referred to Mohammad Moin Ayyash as “the knight of media and the rifle… the Qassam martyr, the mujahid killed in a brutal Zionist bombing that targeted him and his family.” The post included a short video clip showing him in military fatigues and holding a rifle.
